Taking it to the Next Level

Taking it to the Next Level is an 8-week intermediate course in Hatha-Tantra yoga that invites students to extend and deepen their practice. It is suited to those with some previous experience with yoga, but does not require advanced level skills. 

The classes will include a strong asana practice specifically designed to help students see their progress over time. This will be combined with dedicated work on the bandhas, mantra, pranayama and meditation. Learning to integrate all these different elements into the practice will allow students to deepen their experience and explore some of the 'next level' aspects that lie beyond physical movement.

Classes will take place in The Peaceful Wild studio on:
Tuesdays 18:00-19:30
January 8th- March 12th 2019 (free on January 15th and February 19th) 

Cost:

Foundations of Yoga & Meditation

This is an 8-week course focused on teaching the foundations of yoga and meditation. 

The course will introduce students to the basics of yoga and meditation, including how to do some of the main poses and breathing techniques. Through the classes, students will have an opportunity to build their self-awareness, improve their strength and flexibility, and find relaxation through mindfulness.

The course is particularly suitable for beginners or those new to yoga and meditation. It is, however, also open to anyone with a beginner's mind wanting to return to the roots of the practice. 

Classes will be held at The Peaceful Wild on:
Tuesdays 19:45-21:00
January 8th- March 12th 2019
(free on January 15th and February 19th)

108 Sun Salutations on the Solstice

As we descend into the dark arctic winter, this special event will honour the sun as an essential life giving force for our planet. 

Following two preparatory lessons, we will perform 108 sun salutations on the winter solstice to celebrate that we are, once again, turning back towards the sun. 

The salute to the sun series - Surya Namaskar – is a classic sequence of yoga asana. It was initially proposed as a practice to be repeated at sunrise; honoring the new day and warming up the body. For some yoga practitioners, there is also a tradition of performing 108 sun salutations on the summer and winter solstices - the longest and shortest days of the year - to recognise, honour and celebrate our circling movement around the sun and its role as a foundational source of all life on Earth. 

For this special event, we will first have 2 preparatory classes (12th & 19th December 18:00-19:30) to learn the sequence, as well as modifications for each pose, as a way to build up to the extended solstice session on December 21st (17:00-21:00). The 108 sun salutations performed on the solstice will be divided into 9 sets of 12, with each set separated by short meditation breaks to rest and reconnect.

This is a special selection of yoga and meditation classes specifically designed for men. 

The classes are aimed at all those guys who want to stretch and strengthen their bodies and destress their minds, but don't necessarily want to explore yoga & meditation surrounded by experienced and bendy females. 
The classes will offer an introduction to classic yoga poses and meditation techniques, in a sequence designed to soften stiff muscles and ease tight minds.

Freshly home from the mountains of Nepal, I am offering a special Sunday yoga & meditation session focused on the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum.

This Buddhist mantra appears everywhere in the Himalaya - it is carved onto rocks and monuments, painted on prayer wheels, playing out on stereos, waving in the wind on prayer flags...

This powerful sequence of sounds calls forth compassion, wisdom and peace, and reminds us all of our indivisibility.

In this class we will learn to chant the mantra, as well as weave it through our asana practice and into our meditation.

Workshop Series: Elements of a Well-Rounded Yoga Practice

This autumn, the Peaceful Wild will offer a series of four 2-hour workshops to focus on different elements of a well-rounded yoga practice. Although the series will build from week to week, each workshop can also be taken individually.

Each workshop will include an active, dynamic ‘yang’ style of yoga, combined with a quieter, more restorative ‘yin’ form of practice. In addition to asana, each session will also include a focus on the breath through ‘pranayama’ and have dedicated time for meditation.

The series will specifically highlight these different forms and dimensions of yoga to discuss and explore how they come together in a well-rounded practice.

The four workshops on offer are:

FIRE - Yoga: Fast and Slow - July 31st from 18:00-20:00

AIR - Yoga: Body and Breath - August 7th from 18:00-20:00

WATER - Yoga: Body, Breath and Mind  - August 14th from 18:00-20:00

SPACE - Yoga: Body, Breath, Mind and Meditation - August 21st from 18:00-20:00
