108 Sun Salutations on the Solstice

Following tradition, the Peaceful Wild will host a gathering to perform 108 sun salutations on the winter solstice to mark and celebrate our turning back towards the sun and its life-giving force.

The salutations are done in 9 sets of 12, with breaks for rest and meditation in between. Performed as a slow moving meditation, this event is a beautiful way to reflect on the year that has been and open up to all that is to come in our new turn around the sun.

The event collects a 300 nok registration fee that is then donated towards a cause.

There are limited places available so to confirm your spot, VIPPS Fern at 40321002.

The salute to the sun series - Surya Namaskar – is a classic sequence of yoga asana. It was initially proposed as a practice to be repeated at sunrise; honoring the new day and warming up the body. For some yoga practitioners, there is also a tradition of performing 108 sun salutations on the summer and winter solstices - the longest and shortest days of the year - to recognise the Sun as a foundational source of all life on Earth and honor our relationship with this magnificent force.
